Golden Age Hollywood at The Muse
On the summer day that I grabbed a honey lavender latte at The Muse Coffee and Whiskey and originally looked at the space in terms of floral potential, I sat in the front Bonner Room of this historic building in front of the fireplace. All of the front rooms that are open during the day have the most beautiful blue walls, golden wood, mustard curtains, and fabric wallpaper with embroidered magnolia, birds, and feathers. The historic quality of the building was maintained in it’s renovation true to the integrity of it’s birth decade, and the decor is just the icing on the cake.
I wanted to do a floral install on that fireplace SO BAD. I needed feathers to match the wallpaper. It was going to be the perfect setting for a Gatsby or Golden Age /Old Hollywood theme.
Sticking with neutrals in brown to compliment the golden and mustard tones, I also added a little pink amidst the ivory and white for an elegant and luxurious feel.

My favorite florals from this look are a brown dyed lisianthus used throughout all of the pieces. The blush lisianthus gets a mauvey-pink tone in the veins and the result is just stunning.
For the groom’s boutonniere in particular, you can see the ruffly edges I paired with the texture of ivy berries, smoke bush greens, and white peacock feather fringe, with a ribbon wrap in champagne.
The bridal bouquet had Koko Loko roses, pale blush/peach roses, dyed lisianthus, white snowberry, brown cymbidium orchids, smoke bush greens, ivy, and ivory peacock feathers.
The ceremony space was The Bonner Room downstairs at The Muse, which has a gorgeous ornate mirror above it which perfectly reflects the chandelier in the afternoon lighting. It was glowing. A few of the below fireplace photos were provided by me.
The statement piece on the fireplace consisted of climbing ivy vines with berries for texture and smoke bush greens as a base. Florals included dyed lisianthus, brown cymbidium orchids, vintage brown (mauve/fuschia) stock, white dahlias, Koko Loco roses, and hanging amaranthus in fuchsia/red and preserved white. I love the way that the ivy pieces I selected rose up and imitates the shape of the mirror as well as the texture from the embellished design. An accompanying arrangement in the same florals was at the base of the fireplace, among taper candles in cylinders on vintage books from the upstairs library.
It wasn’t until I got photos back that I realized how the hanging amaranthus echos the fabric on the bride’s dress. * chef’s kiss *
Outside for some golden hour shots, the antiqued quality of the lisianthus really comes through. I love the classic vintage-look curls in the bride’s hair against the sunset - way to go glam team!
For this couple’s reception, head upstairs to the event space at The Muse, where you’re greeted with a welcome sign to set the romantic tone. More tapers in cylinders invite you in amongst a statement arrangement of cymbidium orchids, dyed lisianthus, white roses, white snowberries, ivy, smoke bush greens, hanging amaranthus, and gold peacock swords in an oversized diva vase. Throughout this golden era Hollywood look I loved using the smoke bush to pull the deep purple tones from the throats of the brown orchids, the veining in the dyed lisianthus, and the red brick in the wall upstairs- you can really tell how it complements the gold tones here!
Florals also accented the cupcake display, next to the champagne tower.
When selecting pieces for this tablescape at the reception, we wanted to emphasize the gold in the room upstairs in both the curtains and the plates and flatware provided by The Muse. The centerpieces had dyed lisianthus, brown cymbidium orchids, vintage brown stock, white dahlias, white roses, Koko Loco roses, blush/peach roses, snowberries, ivy, and smoke bush greens.
I topped each setting off with an ivory peacock feather on each plate.
