Modern Elopement at The Muse
I had the most exciting opportunity to be part of a styled shoot at The Muse Whiskey and Coffee with Little Blue Bird Events this year. In order to get a feel for the space I popped by on a weekday morning with my youngest (4 months old at the time) in tow, ordered a coffee and a pastry, and really took it all in. THE POTENTIAL! The entire building is so beautiful inside and out. There is really something in the design or architecture to ogle over in every room. If you’re interested in learning more about the historic Weyerhaeuser building, there’s fascinating information on their site.
I had so many ideas and dreams for what could be done with florals in order to really highlight how versitile of a space for private events it is. Ultimately, we decided to do a few different looks in order to utilize all of the spaces that The Muse has to offer, and the Modern Elopement was the first. The inspiration was to showcase the fun nature of the speakeasy bar, and host a small, intimate experience.

The bridal bouquet had bold hot pink roses, black anthurium, dahlias in orange button and fire magic, black mondo grass, hanging amaranthus, and gold palm, finished with trailing black ribbon. Coordinating pieces were used for a backdrop for their cupcakes and on the champagne bucket.
For the ceremony for this couple, we utilized the vault downstairs at The Muse. This room is so cool! I don’t think it’s physically possible to walk into that room and not take a video panning from the floor, up the vault doors, and to the chandelier on the ceiling- finished with whiskey box tops. I saw the sliding ladder in that space and immediately imagined someone draped on the ladder rungs! (It immediately brought to mind part of a song from Frozen when Anna sings “fetchingly draped against the wall” and the required shoulder shrug for that, so take that as a good idea of the type of personality you’re working with here.)
I took inspiration from the art deco feel of the metal work and wanted to use gold palm leaves to echo that same illusion in the swag I made to serve as the altar space for an intimate wedding ceremony. The swag had the same components as the bridal bouquet: hot pink roses, black anthurium, orange button dahlias, black mondo grass, and hanging amaranthus.
The two photos below were personal photos taken by me.
After the ceremony, moving on to the bar, the couple enjoyed cocktails and toasted.
Now… this is a floral blog, but I have a touch of foodie in me and couldn’t resist also sharing these mouthwatering cocktail and food photos- it was the perfect slow drip that got me.
The couple then headed outside for sunset, stopping at the front of the building for a few trailing veil shots. I just love how the amaranthus hangs down in this bouquet and the palm fills it out!
The ceremony swag and ice bucket accent made it over to this couple’s send-off vehicle, an orange vintage bronco. The golden hour sunset at Boxcar Park, which shares the same parking lot as The Muse, is just divine. I’m in love with all of these photos with the swag on the roll bar- I was so excited when I saw that the top was off so it could hang there with the “Just Married” sign taking the space along the back tire.
This beautiful couple! The personality brought to this shoot was spot on.
Stay tuned for more photos from other looks from our shoot in upcoming blogs!
